Lot 046 Typochondriacs
Adana Tabletop Printing Press Gen Harrison discovered that she was a Typochondriac as a student at the Chelsea School of Art in the late 1980s. After graduating, she went on a spurious road trip across America, just so that she could go to see the Hatch Show Print workshops. After returning to the UK she managed the letterpress facility at the Edinburgh College of Art's Caseroom under the watchful eye or Ronnie Whalen. She is now the property manager and compositor at the last remaining fully-functioning Victorian letterpress print works in Scotland: Robert Smail's in Innerleithen, which was passed to the National Trust in 1986, after 120 years of trading. Robert Smail's has an archive of business records dating from the start of the printing business in 1866 until 1986, the original shop, office, paper store, caseroom and machine room. It is a unique example of our industrial heritage. For more details of this and other National Trust properties, please follow the link below. http://www.nts.org.uk/Property/52/ |
