V&A–Z (2007). Screenprint produced in an edition of 20

In 2007 the Victoria and Albert Museum commissioned 150 leading designers, architects, photographers, fashion designers and artists to each contribute a page to an anniversary album, conveying in words and images what they find most inspiring about the V&A and its collections. Goggin spent a day at the museum with his then five year old daughter, taking her on an alphabet trail around the V&A, finding objects resembling each letter of the alphabet and annotating them with the object's exhibit details. The ‘V&A–Z’ screenprint was the result, showing what they love about the V&A: the seemingly infinite breadth of, and constant capacity for surprise in, their collections.

James Goggin set up his graphic design studio, Practise, in 1999 after completing an MA in Graphic Design at London’s Royal College of Art.

Practise works across various media: from books, posters, typefaces, identities and stationery to exhibition design, signage, websites, video idents, motion graphics and title sequences. James was art director of progressive music magazine The Wire between 2005 and December 2007.
